What to expect

Join a 4-hour cycling tour on the outskirts of Slovenia’s capital to the marshy area offering a secluded environment away from the buzzing crowds. Ride down flat macadam roads, with an additional detour along a jungle-like educational trail where you get to encounter some local wildlife and green scenery.

Begin in the center of Ljubljana and follow the Ljubljanica River out of town. Take in views of breath-taking wetlands, as the countryside gravel road takes you through endless fields reaching the place where pile-dwellers, Ljubljana Basin’s first inhabitants, used to live.

Continue through the village of Ig, where you visit a pile-dweller exhibition before venturing deeper into the marshlands towards the Iški morost nature reserve. Bike up to the bird observatory where you will enjoy a short break while observing different indigenous species.

Before slowly heading back towards Ljubljana, stop near Črna vas at St. Michael’s Church, designed by Slovenia’s most renowned architect, Jože Plečnik. Marvel at some of Plečnik’s other works as you re-enter Ljubljana, concluding your journey at Ljubljana Castle.
