What to expect
For a sweet taste of Karpathos, start with a trip to a local beekeeper in Pigadia. Find out how honey is produced while trying the freshest amber nectar. Then, it's onto the timeless village of Menetes, where you can wander the streets of white-washed houses with colourful shutters and have a bite for lunch before heading to Scarpanto winery. Dora and Stelios have been producing wine here since 2008 at their sprawling vineyard and you're invited to a tasting session of their most aromatic Aegean wines.

Over het algemeen was de excursie georganiseerd door aTUI fantastisch. Onze gids was vriendelijk, deskundig en betrokken. Persoonlijk vind ik een tweetalige excursie niet de beste oplossing, maar de kennis en vakbekwaamheid van onze Nederlandse gids maakten deze kleine ongemakken volledig goed. Ik zou graag het wijnproductieproces willen zien, al is het maar in grote lijnen, voordat we de wijnen gaan proeven.

Het proces van het maken vd honing was heel interessant en duidelijk. Het was alleen storend dat onze buschauffeur zich bij de groep voegde en erg aanwezig was door met de imker luid in het Grieks in gesprek te gaan, waardoor de uitleg van onze Tui gids overstemd werd. Bij de wijnproeverij ook een prima uitleg, maar wel jammer dat hij de wijngaard niet heeft laten zien en het proces vh maken van de wijn.

Erg commercieel, bezoek aan imker en wijnproeverij daar ging het om, alke andere bezoekjes puur gerichtom te verkopen. 75 euro niet waard

De excursies naar de imker en de wijnproeverij waren erg leuk. Ook de wandeling door het dorp waren leuk om te doen. Wij vonden persoonlijk het bezoek aan het archeologisch museum en de art studio iets minder leuk.
