What to expect
An excursion that gets better and better as the day goes on. Enjoy some sightseeing before an afternoon relaxing in Elafonisi, an idyllic island off southwest Crete. You'll also visit the village of Voulgaro and the Agia Sophia cave.Our first stop is the Voulgaro for coffee or snacks. Next, it's on to the star attraction. Ringed by pink sands and light blue seas, the uninhabited islet of Elafonisi could hardly be more beautiful. Wade over through knee-deep water and relax on the beach or go for a stroll – there's a dinky little chapel on the western tip. You'll have about four hours of free time to do as you wish.On the way back, walk up to Agia Sophia, a colossal cave famous for its stalactites and chapel. It's said the hoof-print of St George's horse can be found here. And if you look hard enough, you'll find what looks like a horseshoe print in a rock.

Great value tour. Tour guide Margarita was very informative.. if maybe a little too much. Lovely lady tho. Bus driver very experienced and good English. Glad we got to Elafonisi early as NO beds left av after midday… cave visit on return although the 257 steps were hard work.,!

This one is not for the faint of heart! I wish it was clear on the description just how terrifying the journey is on those roads. The pick up location wasn't very descriptive and we were picked up 20 minutes late, which I believe was down to an error. Other than that it was great, Ali, the driver, navigated the roads brilliantly and Margarita, our tour guide, was very informative and really made the day a pleasant experience. It doesn't look like the pictures, but we already knew that.

It was disappointing that the guide did not join the tour from the start, so nobody gave any information about the journey. The breakfast stop was good, the afternoon stop at the chapel in the rocks was interesting, with enough time allowed up to climb up to the chapel and purchase drinks. But the main event of the beach trip was not up to standard. The beach was overcrowded due to the late time of arrival, there was insufficient information about the lack of facilities and the long walk. Poor!!

Fint med den smukke bustur med dygtig chauffør og en ok engelsk talende guide. Godt at se Sophia Grotten. Frygteligt at der var SÅ mange mennesker på stranden, så man dårlig nok kunne finde en plads. Det havde været rart, at der allerede i fortællingen om turen havde stået, at det var en god ide selv at medbringe en parasol. For det er umuligt at leje en solseng med parasol derude. Der var meget blæst, så sandet fløj ind over en hele tiden. Det kan TUI selvfølgelig ikke gøre for.

Nice trip ,Maria are guide was very good, informative of the area , the beach itself was beautiful ,only thing we found there wasn't any shade ,there were sunbeds but you would be very lucky to get one ,and at €20 for 3 hrs . Enjoyed the cave .

Elafonisi on niin ihana kuin muistinkin. Opas kertoi mukavasti asioita matkalla ja pysähdykset olivat kivoja paikkoja. Luolaan en itse jaksanut kivuta, mutta teini tykkäsi kovasti. Bussi on hyvä eikä liian täynnä, mutta ilmastoinnista huolimatta hikinen paluu matkalla.

The beach was stunning. The Caribbean here in Europe. It’s €15 for a parasol and two sunbeds which is well organised. I think the stop at the taverna could be later as most of us on the later pick ups had not long had breakfast and didn’t want to eat the lovely snack. I did however and it was delicious. The stop was welcome from those from The earlier pick ups who had been on the coach two hours already. The walk up to the cave was extreme even with my legs with 257 steps to navigate. Ace guide

Many thanks to our rep Wissam, who helped us sort out this fantastic trip. Our guide was very friendly and informative. The journey to Elafonisi is beautiful , going through the mountains. The extra stops at a traditional taverna and the cave, Agia Sophia were very enjoyable as well. Elafonisi beach is lovely, quite busy so no sunloungers available, so we camped up on the island.

The beach and lagoon were beautiful. However, pricing for the trip was high and our 16 year old was classed as an adult (not the same as other TUI trips and effectively the only cost was for the coach). The guide was excellent - lots of local Cretan information shared on the journey. The driver was also excellent (some very tight roads!). There was no coordination with the beach - and as a result no umbrellas available since we arrived at midday, and it was difficult to find shade on a hot day.

The guide , Jason , was fantastic. We learned so much about Crete from him . The visit to aga Sophia Cave could have lasted for 45 min. 30 min was a little short og time for us. Lovely to have 4 hours at the beach. We enjoied the whole trip very much .

Bra hotell, fantastiskt läge, trevlig personal. Hit åker vi gärna tillbaks igen. Bra service från TUI, vi fick svar direkt på sms om vi hade några frågor. Allt fungerade perfekt. Dock blev vi besvikna på utflykten till Knossos, det var alldeles för kort tid för att se allt och guiden var inget vidare, guidningen tog alldeles för lång tid så man tappade intresset och tillslut fick man ändå läsa sig till själv det som var intressant att veta om utflyktsmålet

I felt very annoyed with the way this experience was advertised. It Clearly stated that this trip lasted 8 hour which was fine with us. Late the night before the departure time was moved to 30 minutes earlier.,this meant missing breakfast but we were not worried about it. At the new time we arrived only to have to wait for 30 minutes from the time stated. Upon asking the driver (no Rep was present) he new nothing about the early pick up. (We could have had breakfast).

This trip was amazing decided to go on our last full day and got a day in paradise! Well worth the money and the beach is beautiful! A few rocks but a lot more sandy then a lot of the other beaches as well!

The bus driver was very skilled and careful on the dangerous roads. The guide was friendly but didn’t offer any additional history or information about the beach- we had to Google why the sand is pink! It would have been nice to hear this from her. We felt she did the near minimum and was more interested in talking to the driver. We loved the touch of a a traditional Cretan pie- wondering why we weren’t offered a drink. We loved the cave visit. We feel that this would have been better placed at the start of the day. After a day on the beach and in intense heat, the climb was hard. These two stops should be switched around. The beach was quite stunning and worth the trip!

A long way on the bus for four hours on the beach. Nice enough for a mooch around and swim, although quite a busy place. All made better by the information about Crete given by Alexandra our entertaining guide.

The scenery was amazing and our guide was very informative. The little tavernas we visited on the way there and back were lovely and typically Greek. Elafonisi beach was beautiful- warm shallow waters and soft sands. 4 hours there was of plenty of snorkel time for us!

The tour was great. Would have been helpful to be prompted that we would need cash as we were unable to get a drink until we arrived at the island at midday but the guide was great and the food in the taverna on the island was amazing.

Really lovely place. Really enjoyed it. You can walk out a long way. But you can swim if you want to. Good value, 2 sunbeds and a brolly for £10. Good places to get snacks and drinks at reasonable prices. Did not go up to the cave in the way back. As it is about 250 steps to get up to it. Was too m

I don't know where to start. Perfect holiday. Bus transfer with TUI was excellent. The hotel was brilliant. The food was superb and variety excellent. Room was clean, amenities good but the mattress need upgrading to be firmer. Facilities second to none and staff friendly and helpful. would go again

Definitely not a 4 star. I paid extra for a good room with Seaview I got a lovely view but it stank of sewage. Staff were great and did a good job. Maintenance was poor. We couldn't change pool towels for the entire stay (10 days)
