Kaapverdië is een hotspot voor de walvissen van maart tot april: het is een van de twee gebieden in de Noordelijke Atlantische Oceaan waar ze paren. Op deze halve dag vaar je rond het eiland om deze majestueuze wezens in hun natuurlijke habitat te zien. En de maritieme bioloog aan boord vertelt je er alles over.Nadat je opgehaald bent bij je hotel, vaar je naar de beste plek om walvissen te spotten. Omdat ze hier paren, is dit de ideale gelegenheid deze giganten te zien. Je kansen zijn het grootst in de piekmaanden maart en april.De bultruggen komen steeds een paar minuten naar boven voor lucht. Om dan met hun enorme rugvinnen boven water te komen als ze terug de diepte induiken. Als je geluk hebt, zie je er een zichzelf lanceren in de lucht lanceren en met een enorme klap terug op de wateroppervlakte neerkomen.

This was expensive for a 3 hour trip especially with no guarantees that we would even see anything, however we certainly got a lot more than we bargained for with the sightings; we were very lucky yo get a full range of experiences with a calf and their mother, followed by a well known male giving us the full display. Even the staff seemed excited about what we were watching so we knew it was special. A great trip and we appreciate out good fortune in picking a day such as this.

The fact the boat never actually stopped for us to get any meaningful viewing time. The fact that the waves were so choppy that most people were feeling unwell and one lady was panicking. The fact that even though the tour guide stated that they usually see the whales every single day we got nothing but a flying fish! I know that is the nature of nature, but surely they could have had some sort of tracking tech to be able to see if there were any whales around at all. All around a disappointment

As the sea was so rough, the staff should have made it clear where the bags were if people were ill. Think you are missing a trick by not having a photographer on board who will take pictures of the whales you see as these could be sold to passengers. Also to sell some merchandise, it was cold and rough: the staff were wearing hoodies and some had lightweight waterproof jackets on. Think a few of these would have been sold on this trip.

The journey to the location had no rep or interaction whatsoever from the driver who was very miserable. The actual experience was amazing especially as we got to see some whales, the biologist was good and it was lovely to see how enthusiastic she was about each siting. The safety on the boat was very poor, I was especially surprised that we did not have to wear our life jackets,. I saw 2 people fall over on the catamaran.The amount of people throwing up was also very off putting.

Crew were great and we were fortunate to see whales. Sadly the sea was rough and I, along with several others, were sick. Staff were attentive providing sick bags but I therefore didn’t enjoy the experience as much as I might have otherwise and was too ill to comment on what good/snacks were provided.

Not finding any whales, while a disappointment, is understandable. What's not understandable is how little effort there is to provide any sort of alternative experience. The crew has a boat full of people interested in whales, the least they could do is take the opportunity to teach people about the animals. Instead we got to spend 3 hours sailing back and forth trying to find animals to the sound of party music with no interaction whatsoever. For the price, it borderlines on scam.

The whale watching cruise was amazing. We saw humpbacks breach several times it was absolutely breathtaking. The skipper and crew were fun and very informative. The drinks and snacks were good too. Overall brilliant experience and would definitely recommend ??

the overall experience was great, the TUI rep Sam was also onboard on his day off he had organised a bottle of prosecco as a surprise for us as it was our 40th wedding anniversary on the day of our trip and this made it very special for us. The only thing we are disappointed with is they had taken photos and we still have not received them.

Great service from crew, interesting information from the marine biologists. Only negative was that the marine biologists stood in the way of viewing the whale activity to take their own photos. Needed I understand but they literally stood in the way for the duration once the first whale had been spotted

Disappointing that we didn’t actually see any whales myself, however the overall trip was great. Was a very windy day and my friend got a little seasick the staff were amazing looking after her and a couple of others, they were Very attentive couldn’t ask for more. Would go again in the hope of seeing whales next time.

An amazing experience, very impressed with all of the crew and they're genuine desire for us to see as much as possible in the time we had onboard. We had conservationists on our trip too, really good to know the wildlife welfare was at the forefront of their minds, the boats skipper was so careful with where we stopped at a safe distance. We were so fortunate to get a wave from 2 whales and so many dolphins we lost count! Even got a quick hello from 2 flying fish on the trip back. Simply magic

Great experience, we have seen several whales and some flying fish. There were snacks and plenty to drink. The marine biologist was very experienced and knowledgeable, she answered every question anybody had. Definitely recommend!

Sighting of a humpback whale which was what we were after. The boat was nice with snacks and drinks included. Information a little sparse and sightings were a bit dependant on other travellers and boats. Expensive relative to other places we’ve taken boat trips but if you can afford it then worth it if you get to see the whales.

The experience was enjoyable with friendly and informative staff. There were plenty of drinks and snacks on board. The snack could have been healthier. We didn't see any whales for the first 2.5 hours but were treated to 5 sightings at the end. It was a shame that having found the whales, we had to leave while the whales were still active. We could see them continuing to surface as we left the area with other boats remaining.

The conservation guides needed a microphone so that everyone could hear their talk.The boat staff were attentive to all of us and especially reassuring to some passengers as they were feeling seasick with bag and water. Drinks were offered throughout the trip along with some small snacks in the 3 hours we were out at sea. Staff also encouraged us to go on the front of the catamaran and helped with spotting whales and picture taking. Great experience

Overall it was a good experience and we managed to see a Humpback whale, if only briefly, but that's just nature. We also saw some flying fish which was good. If it was a bit cheaper or a discount if already booked I would have definitely booked it again while we were here.

We were lucky to see around 6 Humpback whales with their young, very close to the catamaran. There is of course no guarantees with nature and I wasn’t really expecting to see one, so we were really pleased with this trip.

Pick up was late by 20 mins. Transfer to the catamaran was quick, short walk from the coach to the boat. Just enough seats for everyone, so a bit cramped. Once underway, had a short talk about the whales. Saw two wales and two separate pods of dolphins. We also spotted flying fish. Comfortable trip with drinks and snacks provided. Enjoyed the whole experience.

It is the luck of the draw whether you see the whales, but we were lucky and saw them for 10-15 minutes as they came to the surface, so be prepared for 3ish hours for possibly a short whale experience. We would, however, do it again.

The trip was very good, however, if you are the slightest bit seasick give it a miss! I and probably half the boat were ill. The crew were brilliant and provided plenty of bags. If you are a good sailor don't be put off as the trip itself is good.

Seeing humpback whales was unbelievable. It was recommended that we took a hat with us but the day was cloudy and windy. We were very cold which did spoil the trip slightly. We didn’t see the whales until nearly the end of the trip but thankfully we stayed with them and had time to enjoy the experience.

When I booked I couldn’t choose the hotel I was actually staying, so we walked down the road but then they picked up at the hotel I was staying at.! No problem tho ad I don’t mind a walk and a big of an explore!

A great morning out in a beautiful catamaran we say tail flapping and numerous whales and a shark ! Very friendly staff, beers, drinks, pizza and snacks on board. Sea wasn’t rough and the catamaran cut through the sea making it a very calm day!

The catamaran was very full and most viewings were from front of boat. People crammed to the front and were stood on seats trying to get a sighting. We did see a mother and baby a couple of times which was great to see.

Great staff engagement and knowledgeable. Made even better cos we saw humpbacks. But, the whole trip would have been very enjoyable even if we didn't have any sightings. Jack sparrow was brilliant!!

This excursion was completely magical! I have never smiled so much in my life. The beauty of the scenery alone is breathtaking. At the end of the breeding season, not expecting to see many whales, there were so many - mummy and baby together! It was all rather overwhelming! The staff were the best, dancing, laughing, the happiest people on Earth!! Best day ever.

Poorly explained experience before we set off. No TUI rep to explain how experience would go. Ie that port was in SalRei approx 10 mins away. We got to port and noone again explained anything. We were handed filthy life belts for dinghy crossing to catamaran. It was disgusting. Once on Catamaran all good. Hunting for whales really as much as whale watching but appreciate that's nature. Please please please tell people to bring a light jacket. You mention a hat, which is useless due to wind It was literally freezing on way back. Toilets also filthy. Wouldn't really recommend overall experience. Could easily be improved though Staff of marine biologists v good.

Absolutely fantastic experience, the staff were really informative and friendly, one of the staff offered to take my phone and climb up to take photos for me, as your out to sea it is quite breezy and some people were cold , I would suggest to take a coverup , I was ok in shorts and t-shirt though, we saw female, male, and calf , along with other males on there own

We absolutely loved this trip. We got to see whales at close quarters and the staff were really friendly and lots of fun. They were particularly good with my children and went out of their way to look after everyone. It was a unique and amazing experience.

We chose a calm day on the catamaran as we do not travel well on boats. These are supposed to be more stable however would recommend travel sickness medication beforehand as most families had at least one member who was seasick

The perfect way to spend a Sunday morning. We saw two lots of whales during the trip. The crew were mindful not to linger for too long in order not to stress the whales. I feel the marine biologists could have provided a little more information during the trip. Would recommend the trip though.

No TUI rep on the tour at all. Therefore what was the need for TUI prices. Toureg guests did 1 hour and 30 to get onto the boat a lot of wasted time. Consider bus for closer hotels and one for Toureg guests. The dingy from the port to the boat was broken and looked a little like it would sink. Great staff on board very friendly and energetic

Having arthritic knees, my biggest concern was getting on and off the tender that took us out to the catamaran. My mobility is reasonably good but I didn't expect the manoeuvre from wharf to dinghy to catamaran. Perhaps a removable step would help things. However, the staff were strong and very helpful and I had no major problem. Day was made when we had lots of sightings of mother and calves. The bonus of having a marine expert on board, explaining things as we went was excellent. The captain and crew knew just where to go. Very enjoyable, and although it was rough, we were after all in the Atlantic, the crew were more than prepared for those who suffered from seasickness.

Getting on to catamaran by a small dinghy was scary and not to safe I got a twisted ankle getting into the dinghy. The information was very good and saw some amazing creatures. We had 4 trips that I booked in England and saw whales each trip.

The boat was over crowded. People were virtually climbing over each other to see the Whales. Questionable health and Safety getting into and out of the dinghy that was used to transport passengers from the Catamaran to the shore.

Getting on the small boat to get to the big boat felt very unsafe but staff were great, the catermeran was too full and there were not enough seats so we had to sit on the netting where we got soaking wet so ended up freezing cold, the food and drink was not great so we’re left hungry and thirsty

Very often with excursions like this you are left a little disappointed. Not so with this. We were told that we would almost certainly see humpback whales and we surely did - quite a lot actually. Getting the ‘perfect picture’ wasn’t so easy, but I think I managed to take some reasonable photos. Another one ticked off my ‘to do’ list

Excellent staff, it’s expensive for the drinks and snacks provided but including a coach transfer and the marine biologist it’s well worth it, would be very disappointing if we didn’t see any Whales but we were very lucky to see a mother and a calf
