Wat te verwachten
Deze tour van een halve dag staat helemaal in het teken van de bijzondere cultuur en keuken van Konavle. Je proeft lokaal wijnen bij familiebedrijven, maakt een treinrit van dorp naar dorp en smult van traditionele gerechten. En dat allemaal in de schilderachtige omgeving van de Konavle vallei. Antun, een van onze lokale gidsen, zegt: "Dubrovačka Malvasija is een beroemde druivensoort die uniek is voor deze regio. In de naoorlogse periode waren er nog maar drie gezonde wijnstokken over, maar lokale wijnmakers zijn er toch nog in geslaagd de soort te redden.”De Konavle vallei ligt tussen de bergen en de Adriatische Zee op de grens met Montenegro. Vanuit Dubrovnik is het een zonovergoten bestemming voor een excursie. We beginnen in het dorp Zastolje met een bezoek aan de historische wijnmakerij Brajković. Dan ga je met de trein naar Ljuta. Hier zie je hoe de 500 jaar oude Đivanović watermolen een dubbel doel had - sinds de middeleeuwen werd hij gebruikt om meel te produceren en wol tot stof te verwerken.Hierna staat een bezoek aan een andere wijngaard en -kelder op het programma. Je proeft de wijn en snuift wat lokale cultuur op met een typische ‘ploegerslunch': je krijgt gerechten geserveerd die de boeren zouden eten na een zware dag op het land. Tenslotte neem je een kijkje bij een derde wijnmakerij. Antun zegt: "In deze wijngaard kun je genieten van een koel glas Konavle rosé en een stuk typische pandišpanj-cake. Pandišpanj wordt traditioneel gemaakt voor speciale gelegenheden, zoals deze tour, wanneer we onze gasten verwelkomen in onze prachtige Konavle vallei.

The train was initially broken so the first few stops were via coach. It was fixed in time to take us to the last stop. We understand things like this can happen and we still throughly enjoyed the excursion.

Everyone we visited was very friendly and interesting and there was no hard sell. The guide was really good switching from Croatian to English and also French explaining everything clearly.

Visits to three wineries, plus stop for a snack. Plenty of wine and spirits The stop at the mill near the aqueduct was interesting, but difficult to hear what the chap was telling us. This was only because of the noise from the water! The TUI guide was very informative and funny. Arrangements for the pick up (and return) from our hotel were first class. We stayed in Cavtat and we felt this experience was far better than a similar one on offer in the resort.

La visite de la vallée est très intéressante et les personnes visitées très sympathiques.
Par contre trop de temps passé à collecter les participants d'hôtel en hôtel à l'aller et au retour (environ 1h à chaque fois)

The first vineyard and wine was amazing. The second two were a bit home brewish. The third in particular was undrinkable. The people were all lovely and the train ride was fun. Out guide was marvellous. Loved the orange peel and nuts

The trip was a perfect length, an excellent way to spend an afternoon! The guide, Ivanna, was very knowledgeable explaining about the wine growing in the region and also giving local facts and history. It was good to meet the individual wine growers and the mixture of regional snacks on offer were very welcome to absorb the alcohol. The little yellow train was a novel way to travel! I've been on wine tasting trips before but this was by far the best. Highly recommend.

Very enjoyable afternoon we were a small group think we got more out of the day enjoined in lots of laughs. Was nice at the second vineyard as i got to choose weather to have white or red so had two glasses of white as i do t drink red was good to have the option was a added bonus to taste the local liquors.

Very interesting trip . Bit of a long journey to get there so allow an extra hour travelling or more from your hotel. Good range of wine samples and food. Rushed towards the end but overall you get to see a range of vineyards and it was nice to meet other guests.

Found better wine for £5 in Lapads supermarket using my vivino app. Also the watermill... for some reason tui love to stick in a random mill on excursions to fill up the trip. Had the same thing in costa rica with tui. Did two trips that both stopped off at the same mill which was pointless to the trip we'd booked. 3 trips of watching basically the same talk about Mills, that has no relevance to the trip we booked. I know the concept of how a bloody mill works! I had booked vineyards and wine!

There were 15 pick ups before we actually made any progress to the destination. We spent 2 hours on the coach to do a 15 mile journey. Once we got there the trip was fun and well organised but definitely not the half day as advertised. We had to get a separate transport back to avoid missing our last ferry

Wonderful scenery. The families you meet at the vineyards are welcoming and very interesting to hear their family history. Road train allowed you to see more of the landscape. Well worth it (note second time we have been on this particular excursion).

Loved the 'train' ride and the wineries and owners were amazing! Wished we had more wine though - maybe an option to by more glasses? Hated all the hotel transfers at the beginning, made our journey so long!

The vineyards where excellent and very enjoyable, the rep was also excellent and the road train was a lovely novelty. The only negative was that as we were travelling from Kalamota island, we where the first pick up and we’re not advised that we would spend nearly 2 hours doing pick ups before the vineyard tour began.

I did not feel that this trip lived up to the advertising and hype. The bus was late and failed to stop for us, having to reverse back up the road. The rep was unwelcoming, uninformative and frankly rude, talking loudly whilst the vinery owners were explaining about their product. The group was too large (60) to get to know people or bond. I was expecting more of a tour of vineyards, see the process of making/bottling wine, it was just a road train stopping at places for a drink.

We enjoyed the trip, the only worry we had was that we came over from kalamota Island resort and we spent the whole trip worried if we would get back on time! We were first on coach and we spent at least an hour and half to two hours picking up people from Hotels in Dubrovnik before setting off to the vineyards. The trip itself was good. We got back to the port ten minutes before the 8pm departure, we were so worried that we would miss the boat!! Ruined the trip as anxious the whole day!

There were 60 people on tour this was far too many to have any real interaction, plus the vineyards struggled to serve this number in a timely manner. We have been on this tour before with fewer people, and was much better. The tour guide was poor, and despite oy 6 French out of 60 spent more time discussing with them.

Really loved the tour guide, the amount of wine we got to try, meeting the individual families who produced the wine and learning from the culture of wine making. Loved the train also. We got lucky with the group of people we went with also. Nothing bad to report other than the coach we went on had a toilet I couldn’t use which I very much needed on the journey home as a result of the wine.

Really beautiful trip, loved all of the stops!
Having to listen to all the explanations in 4 languages did ruin it slightly when most guests spoke English anyway. Especially when the last winery demo lasted about an hour.
But the actual trip and the 5 places you visit were amazing.

Excellent tour guide, very welcoming vineyard hosts, very well organised trip, beautiful scenery, nice wines, liquors and food. The only reason that I didn't give this experience an excellent rating was the final vineyard presentation went on far too long. (Their wine however was amazing)

Informative and interesting - really enjoyable. In future the final winery should shorten its spiel though as it was too long - everyone was getting bored as we heard long extracts in Croatian, then English, then French.
