This tour’s a good introduction to Cochem’s best bits. You’ll kick things off with a 30-minute minibus drive to Reichsburg Castle, an 800-year-old landmark that looks out over the town. The original castle was destroyed in the 17th century by French invaders, but it was rebuilt in 1868 by a German businessman. During your tour, you’ll be shown around the living rooms and bedrooms, which are decorated with Renaissance and Baroque-style furniture. Plus, you’ll be able to snap some pictures of Cochem and the surrounding countryside from the top of its tower. From here, you’ll get back on the coach for a quick journey into the town centre for a guided walk. On foot, you’ll pass traditional, half-timbered houses and modern, glass-fronted shops on your way to the 500-year-old Church of St Martin. Before you head back to the port, you’ll stop by the Capuchin Monastery. It was built in 1623 by a group of missionaries, and it now acts as a culture centre and meeting hall.
