What we expect
You can expect dollops of déjà vu and nostalgia on this full day cruise. It takes in the sights made famous by the hit musical Mamma Mia! You'll set sail aboard a traditional fishing boat, visiting some of the best beaches in Skopelos. This tiny Aegean island was where Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård et al sang their way into our hearts.
It all kicks off when we sail from Skiathos port on a northeasterly course for neighbouring Skopelos. First, we'll head for the beach of Kastani, where Mamma Mia! was filmed in 2007. Then, it's just a few minutes'...

Wonderful trip for Mama Mia fans/if you want to see bit of Skopelos. Didn’t have option of selecting pick up from hotel but found pick up point as clearly stated. Staff friendly and gave us the information needed. Booked coach to see church at €15pp, it was about 1/2 hour journey so saw a bit of Skopelos on way. Because of this though we didn’t spend any time at first beach so take pics when you get off boat. Some other trips do go to Skopelos town so might be worth sussing out. Well recommended

The pick up and transportation was well organised, the seats on the boat were just metal round the edges and very uncomfortable. They did have chairs and tables in the middle. The music played was obviously all ABBA. You visit 3 beaches and if you want to see the chapel it is 45 minutes in the minibus. It is really just a trip to 3 beaches which were used in the film. Nothing special but as I like boat trips and going to different beaches it was nice day out

The trip itself was ok visited 3 beaches which was fine however, it should have been highlighted in the itinerary the length of time you are spending at each beach example on the boat for 30mins and 1st stop was for at least 2hrs then 10mins to next stop to spend 3.5hrs on the beach then 20mins on the boat to spend another hour at the beach in essence we were on a ‘boat trip’ for 7hrs and we spent 6hrs on a beach of some kind. This should be highlighted as a ‘beach trip’ not a boat trip

The sound system on the boat was poor - very difficult to understand what the guides were saying. It was a lovely day - didn’t understand why the itinerary said 4to 8 hours!!! Such a huge time span. We were 8 hours altogether. The bus transport also broke down at the end of the day - but we just got the service bus rather than wait for a replacement. They were obviously concerned with our safety. The people were very good.

More of a ferry crossing than a cruise. Expecting the boat to full, but other passengers were allowed to take up more space than necessary leaving families separated and/or with children on knees. Not sure that playing a Mama Mia sound track and pointing out 2 or 3 film destinations attributes as themed cruise but at least we got to the chapel all be it with substantial additional walking despite supplementary transport charges.

It was a good day out. What would have been very useful was an ITINERARY for the day at the beginning - more detail. We were divided into 2 groups for the visit to the chapel & it would have been good to have had some CHOICE about which group/time we went. I could barely hear what the girl was saying over the tannoy about the places we visited.

A well organised trip- easy pick up location- clear instructions about timings throughout the day- nice picturesque locations for each stop. Would have liked more information about the filming at each location visited, maybe using screenshots from the film to help picture the locations as they were in the movie.

The trip was delayed 2 hours due to winds, obviously this couldn't be helped. There was limited information throughout. The second stop we were told to get straight on the buses immediately go to the church it wasn't explained how long we would be at the church or where we would get dropped off, communication ftom staff was poor. The bus was late to pick us up then others were allowed to get on and there was no room for us. As a result there was no time for us to have lunch at the beach.

We had our first cruise cancelled so went another day. We got there to a full boat then had to stand and they still kept putting people on the boat. After we left then was asked to pay another 15 euros each to go on a coach to the church but we didn’t want to go on a couch so decided to see the church from the boat. They then took us to 3 beaches which we had to use tavernas for shade. Never got taken around church on boat. The staff put some Abba music on and were not interested.Not good at all

Boat trip was fantastic- get there early as shaded/ covered areas are limited- no shade at all on top deck. Mini bus to Mama Mia church was well organised- very steep steps can be tricky for some. Lots of beach cafe to choose from on Skopolos.

Far too laid back and lack of health & safety. Too many people crammed in. We didn’t know what was going on. We were told over the mic basic instructions but we just followed everyone else worried we would miss the pick up points. We had no idea how long we had at each place. There should be an itinerary sent or via scanning a QR code onboard. No checks of people on or off the boat - you could get left behind! T-shirts should be free and part of the booking fee. A TUI rep should be on board.

The instructions regarding visiting the church were very unclear and left us with the impression that we could walk or join a later bus. However, after we disembarked at The first beach we found out that the church was over 3 km away. We couldn’t secure a place on the bus and this ultimately ruined the trip. The trip was over subscribed which meant finding seating was difficult especially if you wanted protection from the sun.

Great day out and the beaches were stunning. The commentary wasn’t great and the itinerary information could have been better but the staff were friendly and accommodating. The restaurants at Panoramos beach were lovely and reasonably priced. The trip to the Mamma Mia church was amazing and a must do but priced at €15pp for basically just transport did feel like we were ripped off.

I know not everyone wants to go up to the church but feel the price of the trip should include the bus trip. That said we had an amazing day and loved every minute of it. It was big enough without being a party boat. I was disappointed that having booked the trip for a previous day it was cancelled and we weren’t informed until 15 minutes after our pick up time. This was known by boat authorities a couple of days prior and although we had heard we hadn’t had notification from Tui.

Overall, we enjoyed the Mamma Mia Cruise, especially the trip to the Chapel and the stop at Kastani beach. However, it was an additional 15 Euros per person for the minibus to the chapel. This is quite costly when you are a family of 4 and have already paid £150 for the trip. I think the cost of the minibus should have been covered in the initial outlay for the trip as it turned out to be a very expensive day trip.

The boat staff were unfriendly. We had 3 stops on beaches that were too long and they were only 5/10 minutes apart and much the same. This trip does not sail by the church or go via Skopolos Town although you can get a bus for extra to the church but you only have 30 minutes there. The happiest we saw the crew was on the way back during happy hour! The same 6-8 songs were on repeat and then the crew changed the music to an 80s playlist as they were bored!

We were picked up by coach along with around 20 others which I presumed would be the entirety of the trip. When we arrived at port we found a commercial boat which was packed with 150 people. The trip turned out okay but I feel there should be a mention of this when you book the trip as we would have preferred a smaller more intimate excursion.

We loved seeing the dolphins when the captain of the boat spotted them he turned the boat in an arc for us all to see them. They came over and joined us surfing along with the boat which was great as we were at the helm and filmed it

We had a fantastic day on the Mamma Mia cruise. The crew were very friendly and welcoming and informed us of all the relevant information about all the destinations where Mamma Mia was filmed. We went to the church which is in the film and it was stunning but it is a very steep climb as there are over 200 steps but it is well worth it when you get to the top. The boat was lovely as it wasn’t over sold and over crowded which was very nice, the boat is called Kalypso and the crew are ??

Lovely boat trip and visited 3 beaches as promised but we paid for the trip to the chapel and the bus to pick us up was 30 minutes late. Travelled up the mountain to the chapel where the bus driver gave us just 30 minutes to visit the chapel. Therefore, it was an incredible rush to climb the long way up using very steep steps (in the heat) take a few photos and then rush back down the steps. We were very disappointed with this time limit and we did not get time to enjoy the chapel at all.

The boat was very rocky to start, a bit scary, but they assured us we were safe.. only just enough seats for everyone on the boat. Upstairs was better. Beaches were nice, we stopped at 3. The chapel visit was mainly a coach ride for 25 minutes there and the same back.. very windy, steep roads. The driver however was amazing. Very quick 30 minutes to the top and down! 200 steps. Stunning scenery. Glad we did it!

Enjoyed our boat trip to Skopelos - if you fancy a day out, visiting four beaches (3 extremely busy) with ABBA music playing on the boat - book onto this tour. The staff were very friendly and organised. They pointed out some of the locations used in the filming of Mama Mia. You can pay €14 extra once on the boat, to take a bus to the scene of the church in the film. 10 am - 5 pm. Tavernas on the second beach so you can enjoy a leisurely lunch.

The Mamma Mia cruise was a hi light of our holiday. We enjoyed the atmosphere on the boat, listening to the ABBA music. We visited some beaches locations from the film. The water was beautiful to swim in and crystal clear. We also opted to go on the coach to drive up to St. John’s church. It was a bit rushed to get up and down to the church in the time limit but the views were worth it. Skopelos is a stunning island. Fabulous day out.

Visit to church was lovely but very rushed. Arrived for lunch had an hour which wasn't enough for everyone to be served at lovely taverna. 30mins to visit the church in very high temperatures not enough needed 45 mins to 1 hour minimum. Woul have liked an outline for the day at the start so we knew what was happening when. Nice beaches with very clear water for swimming.

LOTS of day trippers packed onto 2 decker boat with little room to spare. Mamma Mia soundtrack on repeat. Taken to first beach which was heaving. Recognised it from movie. Paid extra €14 each to climb steps to chapel - worth doing otherwise you might as well just tour any beaches. Taken to chapel by minibus - chaotic organisation. Literally given 30 mins to walk up to chapel and return to minibus. Taken to 2 further stone beaches - not told where they feature in movie. Herded like sheep all day.

A great day out visiting various beaches on Skopelos that featured in the film Mamma Mia. Plus an optional visit (€14.00) to St John’s chapel. Note that it is a steep climb to the chapel, and that only 30 minutes is allocated to the visit. Get ready to sing along, as the soundtrack is played on the loop!

Best way would’ve to have included the cost of the visit to the cliff in the price as without that you are simply paying for a boat trip to beaches which is not worth the price. Waiti g at the second beach for an hour and a half is boring and purely a way to get you to spend money as you are in dire need of refreshment by that point. No where to sit on the beach at stop 2 either. Got accused of sitting on sunbEd and had payment demanded despite not sitting g anywhere

Great day relaxing, nice taverner on beach best cheese pie ever. Was surprised how far it was to the church by coach. No you don't get much time their but if you do get to the top take some photo's that's all to do. Not sure I could have completed in full sun but recommend even if you only get half way. Its so pretty. Last stop quick swim cocktail on beach and back. Good day great value use tui discount code if is still one on site.

We only booked 24 hrs before we travelled. From the booking experience right through until the end of the holiday everything was great. There was a TUI rep at our resort almost every day and she was always contactable if needed. The resort was a very good standard, the rooms were very clean and bins etc were emptied every day. All in all a fabulous experience. Would definitely book again.

I enjoyed the journey round Skopados before getting to the steps ??the driver very good lovely to see so much of the island.the time on beach before going to church. Only fault you should allow 45minutes minimum for steps very hard to do it in 30minutes especially for older ABBA fans !!

Loved every moment except how rushed it was at the second stop, had 45 minutes to order and eat dinner to get on the coach to the chapel, then had 10 minutes once we were back, not enough time to eat and enjoy the second beach

Overall I enjoyed the whole trip along with my wife and daughter. I did find the itinerary could have been a bit clearer. It wasn’t made clear that we were stopping at a restaurant for lunch on the second stop on the boat until we got there, so therefore we rushed lunch on the first stop prematurely. Coach ride to the church was a bit too long but I suppose that can’t really be helped!

I don’t understand what the other reviews refer to in terms of music too loud or not having enough time, we went to the chapel, I understand paying the 14 euros for the bus there as it’s a dangerous route to take! We had plenty of time on all beaches, the staff on the boat were brilliant, lots of information about islands, where the scenes were done etc. overall a fantastic experience and I will do it again!

It’s just a boat trip to an island. Wow betide you if you don’t pay the extra to go to the church, what else could you do with your time. It’s the Mana Mia trip, so why not play the movie on TV screens?? There’s only so many times you can hear the same songs!

Very enjoyable day trip. Main down point was the visit the Chapel. Given only 30 minutes to get up to and back down from a very steep climb to the top was far too little time. Could have had less time at a beach. The day however was very enjoyable and would recommend.

I did think 13 euros, on top of £33 already paid , for the bus ride to the church was a little expensive and I would have liked more than 30 minutes there, However we had a wonderful day out . The beaches , the island and the sea were beautiful. It was so exciting to see the church and we were glad we had our snorkel Goggles to. I woukd definitely do this trip again,

I’m afraid this trip was a bit of a con. The boat was way too overcrowded and some people couldn’t find a seat. The trip was basically a trip and see two beaches with the Mamma Mia soundtrack thrown in! The bus journey to the church ( which was an extra 14 euros per person) was rushed and we had approx. 5 minutes at the church. The whole trip felt rushed and no one on the boat was impressed. I believe there are better trips where the boat takes you round to the beach near the church.

You couldn’t actually see the church for the tour unless you paid an additional charge per person You were just taken to 3 beaches ( one for 3 hours) There was no commentary about the islands we were passing or any facts about Greece The information when arriving at the beaches were Sophie sang a song there !! It was marketed as a mama mia tour but I felt it was morr of a beach tour. The visit to the church, whilst stunning, should have been included in the cost. There was not enough time for the church visit. We felt a bit like sheep being herded onto packed beaches with only an hour to spend.

Not much commentary on the boat regarding film locations. Could have done a bit more entertainment on boat rather than just playing the ABBA music over and over again e.g. an Abba quiz/movie quiz. Information regarding meeting points Etc was a bit scanty, could have been more precise, people were unsure about where to go/ which coach to the church etc. Beautiful beaches on Skopelos- views from boat lovely. Worried to learn that the rep wouldn’t be at the hotel esp. on the first day. However, they were there and it was very comforting and useful. Information re flights etc via text was great. MASSIVE PLUS ( which would make us seek out a TUI holiday as a preference), you didn’t try and sell sell sell the excursions. We did a trip but felt relaxed and not at all bombarded. People need to know that if they want to visit the chapel there is an extra charge of 13 euros each . The last beach we went to was not even in the film it was the piece of rock in the sea which was supposed to be a key point . We did the church visit at an extra €13 euro’s each and arrived at 12.30 to climb the 100 steps! We only had 40 minute stop and it felt a bit of a rush in the heat. From there we went back and had a late lunch again all seemed a bit rushed ! We returned to port about 5.30pm.

The description of the tour isn’t very accurate on the website. If you want to go to the church it’s an extra €13 euros with a mini bus. If you do the church you miss out on time at two of the beaches. This isn’t advised anywhere. The pick up point states bus stop 20 however that’s the local bus stop which your buses can’t stop at, so the bus stops down the road and the guide walks back to get you telling you the pick up is at the Astoria. Good day but a few details wrong

Trip it’s self was very good, guide and staff on board the ship very good. Coach driver on the return to our hotel was rude and did not stop for half the coach to get off and was just going on the post it note he was given. These customers were on the coach going and were ceremoniously dump at the road side at the first stop he would stop at left to wait for a bus to go back miles to there hotel. He did not put air con on and played loud awful music too.

Smooth transfer to the boat from resort. Arrived a little later so seating options limited. Crew very friendly and drinks prices on board very reasonable. First beach was idyllic, the second really nice. Wasn't keen on the third - zero shade so stayed on board for cocktail happy hour. Choose your restaurant wisely at the second (lunch) stop: avoid BLO taverna. The worst food and service I have ever experienced. The optional church trip is a must but the steep climb is hard work in the heat.

its was ok, mama mia link slim though as just 3 beaches, 2 of which where linked in a passing way to the film, i would have prefered a couple of hours in skopelos town in honesty than the beach visits, seemed like the day was spanned out in honesty, was ok though. not dear at £30 each but not worth much more! Crew were good, lunch break at 2.5hrs too long as not much to do except tavernas at that beach. Cut out last 0.5 hr beach a shorten lunch stop, and fit in couple of hours skopelos town

This really wasn’t a Mamma Mia trip. We saw one place where they filmed scenes. The other two beaches had nothing to do with the film. The excursion details on the TUI app also stare that light refreshments will be served. They were not. Don’t book this. The location was fantastic and the serving staff were good. We loved the place. The foid was not very varied very little fresh fruit available. Im afraid the big issue we have is with Tui. We have travelled with Tui for years because we know what we getting ie the full package however this time was vastly different as we are technophobes and we received an email a day before our flight saying there was no Rep at the hotel. When we got there there was no notice board , no one to ask local questions and found out we had to ring London to book trips. It seems you (TUI) want customers to use the app. Let me tell you alot of your customers of a certain age find it very difficult. You cant rely on the internet at the hotel and I tried several times to pay for a trip on the app and it wouldnt accept. I then spent extra money having to phone London where I had to deal with a foreign speaking lady who I couldnt understand as the background was very echoe. The one good person was Neil in excursions who I phoned several times. We were told nothing and getting information on site was non existant. Then we had the nightmare of not knowing if we would get a flight home. Your saving grace was we got home with minimal delays. Tui you havs to do better. Alot of people were complaining whilst we were there. You need to do better if you want our custom again. The few Reps who were at the airport were not very helpful either

Generally it was an enjoyable experience and we were taken to some very nice beaches . The main reason I cannot recommend this tour is the extra charge for the bus trip to see the church. When you book you are advised that there will be a small extra charge for the bus trip but 13 euros each is not a reasonable charge for this service. We were expecting 5 euros at the most! You should make it clear that there is a 13 euro charge for the bus trip, if we'd known it was an extra 13 euros we would not have booked this trip and gone on another.

A lovely day out at sea, be prepared for lots of Mama Mia music (all day). Just one surprise was when we reached the island, they beached the boat and there is a very steep gangway to disembark. There is no quayside, but didn't spoil the day it was great and I would revisit and recommend it.

Tui charge twice the price it was direct from the operator kalypso boat. When you get to Skopelos you have to pay more for the bus to the church. The kalypso boat is very noisy and you cannot hear the music/commentary. Last beach stop was very rocky, it made had to swim. Book your own on the day.
