What we expect

Discover the best-preserved amphitheatre in the Roman world! The Nîmes Amphitheatre is the fruit of two centuries of development of Roman architecture. Unlike the Coliseum, its external facade is perfectly preserved.

The amphitheatre is 133 metres long and 101 metres wide and has an oval-shaped arena that is 68 metres long and 38 metres wide. Its elliptical shape ensures no one's view in the audience is obstructed, regardless of where one is seated on the tiered seating.

What to remember

Know in advance:

In July and August, free guided tours of the amphitheatre are proposed several times a day in French and English, please ask for more information on site
Dogs are only allowed in the arena, except for guide and assistance dogs, which are allowed in all three monuments
Children up to 7 years can join for free. Free tickets can be only picked up on site, proof will be required
The Nîmes Amphitheatre is open 7 days a week except for exceptional closures for shows or concerts
Please check the opening days and hours before your visit on the official website of the amphitheatre
The ground floor of the monument is fully accessible to people with motor disabilities
