What to expect

The magnificent South Rethymno hides mysterious destinations, and exploring it you will discover villages, gorges, lakes and imposing mountains. The route includes passages through olive groves and traditional villages, ending in the authentic beaches of the South Cretan Sea.

Discover the natural landscape of Crete! Your tour will start from Rethymno with a personalized pick-up around 8.30am. You will arrive at one of the most important lakes of the island, where many species of birds and animals live. The dam gathers water from the gorge of Patsos. While just 15 minutes away, you will stop at the magnificent gorge of Agios Antonios, where lies a small church in the rocky cave. The impressive gorge of Agios Antonios—also known as Patsos Gorge—is in the midland of the regional unit of Rethymno.

Then you will see some traditional villages and will stop to take pictures at the higher point of the area, viewing the northern and southern part of Rethymno and the two highest mountains of Crete. After that, you will visit a botanical garden for a 40-minutes guided tour. You will discover plants and flowers of Crete, famous for their healing properties. At the end of the tour, you will enjoy a cup of tea. Your visit will continue in Spili (a famous village for its natural springs), where you will admire the folklore museum and have free time for a coffee. You will move towards Plakias beach for swimming with a view to the South Cretan or Libyan sea. You will come back to Rethymno at around 5.30pm.
