Stops include the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag, where the red flag was raised by Soviet soldiers in early May. After the Holocaust memorial, the tour continues to the site where the Reich Chancellery with the Führer Bunker once stood. The monumental Soviet Embassy, built after World War II, represents a new beginning under Soviet leadership. Berlin became one of the symbolic sites in the Cold War.
