Everything was excellent - picked up on time, taken to the desert area then shown numerous constellations with fantastic information by our guides along with planet viewing through large telescopes. Good and plentiful meal. Unable to fault this experience in any way

Booked this trip through the First Choice app got the voucher with pick up time stated as 645pm , so we headed down for 645, waited until 730 no pick up arrived, i called customer service was promised a call back this never happenned. I went and spoke to the Tui rep in the hotel who advised we should have been there 10 to 15mins early, this instruction is not stated on the voucher i received I am still waiting for a responce regarding the refund 24hrs later. Very dissapointed!

Food was poor, little choice if you didn't like the meat or fish option. My husband had rice and beans and potato for his meal more vegetables could be offered and on top of this the food was Luke warm. Enjoyed the talk on the stars unfortunately it was cloudy.

This was a brilliant night out! Unfortunately for us we did go when it was cloudy, but we still saw so much- beautiful stars and Saturn! The staff were so informative, welcoming and accommodating. You walk out to the desert further, where you can relax, laying up staring at the stars. Only one word could describe this… BEAUTIFUL.

Despite a relatively cloudy night we managed to get an amazing photo of the moon through the telescope. The food was nice and the price of the cocktails were reasonable as well being cheaper than the UK at around 9€ each with good quality whilst the usual type still amazing and the guide was extremely good and funny

Drop off at the venue was excellent right at the door. Cloudy evening so no stars and very disappointing. Should not be run during full moon phases. Food was average and ran out and we had to wait for more to come out. Guides were knowledgeable but due to the weather and the moon phases we were unable to see anything.

The food was traditional local cuisine and there was plenty of it. Good choice of drinks to purchase from the bar. The whole experience was great. It was amazing to see the moon through the telescope and so many stars with the naked eye laid on a blanket in the sand.

The staff were all lovely. We'd be asked when we booked if we prefer chicken, fish or vegetarian - so as a veggie I thought there'd be a main dish but it was just the vegetable side dishes everyone had. It was tasty though and plenty. The stargazing was a let down. Too many people meant food took too long, couple of less mobile guests meant we couldn't go into desert further and didn't get to use the telescopes due to lack of time. We didn't get all we paid for. Very disappointing

Lovely little cute restaurant in the Vienna dessert, staff at the restaurant and the guides where very welcoming and first cocktail served and choice of another drink included. They cocktail list you could buy was great and fair priced. Was bit cloudy but we did get to see some stars and were low in the dessert blankets provided to lie and learn a bit about the stars we could see. Very informative and interesting

The bar was absolutely amazing as well as all the staff and the guids. My only complaint was that we didn't see any stars as it was so cloudy which I understand completely that no one can control the weather. However it then becomes very expensive for a small plate of food and 1 drink. I feel that if the weather is such there should be some kind of compensation? We didn't even get an extra drink. Apart from that it was a lovely night and I would love to go again on a clear night

Genuinely welcomed by the staff to their premises. Clean and comfortable dining area and bar. Drinks were reasonably priced. Food was excellent. Stargazing with telescopes before dinner led by a knowledgeable expert then afterwards a short walk in the dark across the sand (for some this may be difficult due to uneven surface and nature of sand) to a secluded spot to escape light pollution to be amazed at the number of stars visible. Note: cloud cover dependant.

Was hoping to be able to see another planet or 2 through the telescope but only got to look at the moon. However, when I'm the desert I've never seen as many stars in my life. Even the plough which I see had home, I've never been able to see all the surrounding stars due to light pollution. Dinner was decent and staff excellent. Good night out.

Wow. Just wow!! Picked up at our hotel, taken to the desert via bumpy roads and off road. Lots of goats and donkeys to see on the way. Greeted with a welcome drink which was a juice, then food which was Cape Verdean and absolutely delicious. You get one drink included but other drinks are very reasonably priced, contactless payment available. Then out to the desert on blankets, guide extremely knowledgeable. Then a shot of grog to finish! All we can say is DO THIS EXCURSION! You won't regret it!

A great evening. The staff were fantastic, knowledgeable and friendly, answering any and all questions. The restaurant was lovely with fantastic food. One drink is included in the price but the staff don't hassle you to buy more. Would highly recommend the local white wine (Pilon). Overall a fantastic evening.

It wasn’t what we expected, it was extremely disappointing! The staff and buffet food was very good. We had a very bright almost full moon. We didn’t need the telescope to see the moon. There were very few stars visible. We walked in to the desert for a few minutes, it was way too bright to see the stars. The man talking had great information but due to taking and walking in a circle we only heard part of the talk. Very overpriced experience. It should not be that much money when full moon!

This is the second time that we have been tk this experience and we have not been disappointed at either. The pick up was on time, the driver was polite and courteous. The road was a bit bumpy but to be expected and the journey was accomplished safely. Once at the restaurant, introductions were made by the staff and an explanation was given to all. Once we had been outside to look through the telescopes, shame about the clouds, the food was served and it was as excellent as it was last year.

Great trip but ww were kept waiting for our dessert, the staff kept trying to sell us more drinks (you do get one free drink with your meal) The actual stargazing was brilliant and our guide was so knowledgeable. You do have to walk a little way over the sand dunes which could be difficult for some less able people. Apart from that it was a great experience.

The big downside was about accessibility. Nowhere was it mentioned that this tour is only advised for the able bodied. One of our party can only walk with a mobility aid, therefore we were shocked to discover that after alighting the bus there was a 50 metre walk to the restaurant through deep After walking there and back, the person with the mobility aid barely made and was left distressed and in pain for days afterwards.

Really enjoyed the evening the good was good with a good service and bar was well stocked with branded drinks. The staff with the telescopes were really knowledgeable and we saw Saturn with its rings, some moons of Jupiter and Uranus. We had a clear night and the staff showed us all the different constellations. My tip would be bring a decent jumper or jacket and wear decent footwear for walking in the sand.

Obviously this trip is weather dependent. We were lucky. Had a little cloud but will not dampen this 'sparkling' review. Amazing evening. Venue is fab. Staff amazing. Food was really lovely. Three huge telescopes set up so you can wander in and out of the venue between courses. The young astronomers knew their stuff and with lasers and the telescopes answered all questions fired at them. Then a 2 minute trek into the desert to lie on blankets and just gaze at the wonderous night sky with coffee.

The restaurant shack was nice but tbh if driving to the desert to avoid light pollution was the idea being next to the airport wasn't great! The best thing was the 2 guides and telescopes! But maybe do the stargazing somewhere dark as it was the evening highlight! Rui toureg hotel beach would be ideal for stargazing

Lots of the time was taken up by food which personally I didn't enjoy, but then I am a fussy eater. If you wanted to experience Cape Verde food and hospitality then this is for you, but the star gazing was a little limited. It felt as if we went a couple of minutes from the restaurant that wanted you to buy extra drinks, to share a blanket for 10 minutes being told about the stars etc. Don't get me wrong it was very informative and the guides were really friendly, but too much time on food!

Only issue was that the restaurant will only take Euros and not the local Escudos, we only had escudos with us so weren't able to buy any more drinks/waters after the first one that wad included. Otherwise, lovely food, music and very friendly staff.

When you go you’re only given one drink that’s supposed to last you 4 hours as there was no information to let you know you needed to bring cash for extra drinks! The guides were very knowledgeable and pointed out some great stats and planets! Make sure you wear sensible shoes as you walk along the sand from the desert which is cool! I think it could’ve been 2 hours not 4 in total! Depending on where you stay it can be a 35-40 minute journey ontop of the time you’re there.

This made for a fantastic evening, the food was even better than expected and the stargazing itself was a great experience. The guides/staff were very attentive and friendly as well as funny at times, making jokes but being serious around the stargazing when they needed to. Live music was also good and created a nice atmosphere at dinner and throughout. Can't really fault the evening apart from it being slightly cloudy at times which of course isn't TUI's fault and comes down to a bit of luck!

Absolutely loved this! Just be aware that if you’re expecting a 5* fine dining experience, you’re wrong. What you get however, is the most amazing Cape Verdean buffet, topped off with excellent Cape Verdean live music. The stargazing itself is truly worth it! Seeing the moon and Saturn up close and personal, then being led into the desert to stargaze and be given a very in depth talk about stars and planets was totally worth it. Highly recommended!

Was a great trip to the Viana desert. Music was playing while everyone had the buffet food which was really nice. Staff were outside with telescopes and you could ask questions. They pointed out star constellations with laser lights and homed in on Saturn on a telescope so you could see it. We then went into the dessert with blankets and star gazed for a while which was great. Then a local shot of grog before the bus came!

Only issue we had was arrival at the restaurant and the bombardment of mosquitoes. Appreciate this is hard to control but maybe this should be flagged as an issue on the brochure and/or the restaurant have netting up to protect guests. Several people on our trip left as it was so bad at one point.

The location was perfect; the food, excellent and the musicians were superb. Our guide was very well-informed and able to answer everyone’s questions (and I had plenty!). It didn’t affect me, but I was struck while having my food that the amount of vegetarian/vegan options seemed very limited, relative to the meat based dishes on offer.

The Viana Club is at the ends of a dessert road in the middle of nowhere. This is the ideal place for minimum light pollution. We enjoyed local food and drinks and a local singing to us during our meal. Unfortunately, on our night there was cloud cover and not the a star to be seen. However, we followed our guide for a short walk into the dessert and he gave us an excellent informative talk about out plant and much of the rest of the universe. Not seeing the stars didn’t spoil our evening.

Lovely food and entertainment at the restaurant. We went in the desert , blankets provided so the group could lie down and take in the dark atmosphere whilst the guide explained the stars, sadly it was cloudy so couldn’t see any stars but the guide was amazing at explaining everything.

Sadly it clouded over before our stargazing, however the guides were very well versed in all things to do with astronomy and all staff were super and kept us entertained. The food was lovely (could have done without the grogue though, that said was entertaining watching people’s faces as they tried it!)

Overall the experience was enjoyable. We enjoyed the entertainment at the restaurant and the local vibe it gave. Unfortunately a few too many cocktails by some (not the younger people among the group)meant that when we went to see the stars and learn more about them etc it was constantly interrupted by 'comedians'. I appreciate this is out of TUI control and a different group would have given a different experience. The best bit was the moon through the scope.

The setting is unique, the restaurant was charming and the ambience was perfect. The two gentlemen providing the music were talented and it really added to the overall experience. The servers were polite and prompt. The food tasted even better than it smelled and I have never had ice cream like it. I’m generally a fussy eater but I enjoyed the pork skewers which had so much flavour. The cocktails were well made. Despite some cloud cover, the guides worked hard to show us what they could.

Was a brilliant excursion, my partner and I absolutely loved it and would 100% recommend. All staff were so lovely and attentive, the food served at the restaurant was absolutely delicious, the desert walk was so fun and informative, blankets were kindly provided to lay on, unfortunately we didn’t have the best sky and didn’t see a couple of things, but was outstanding either way, did see so many stars and amazing constellations. Drive was quick and felt so safe, would surely do again!

The vehicle could be updated, as you are on a 30 minute journey to near the airport. There are hidden costs which can be clarified in the marketing. The guides have a god knowledge, and fantastic sense of humour, which lifts the mood.

Had an amazing night for my 50th birthday. The staff were lovely and really looked after us. The food was really nice although they did run out of pork skewers quite quickly, please do more of these next time. The guides with the telescopes really new there stuff and pointed out a lot of interesting things. Overall a cracking night, I would definitely recommend it.

We enjoyed the meal. A good choice. The guides were very informative, with good humour. We saw four of the moons of Jupiter through the telescope. They also helped us to identify different constellations which we've since been able to continue to do now we are home. A highlight of our wonderful trip to Boa Vista.

Great evening. Was a bit cloudy but that didn’t deflect from a great experience. We had a lovely buffet meal and drinks. Nice live music playing while you ate. Take extra money for drinks etc as only 1 is complimentary. Staff were great, very friendly, informative and funny. Telescopes outside the restaurant which you could go out to at any time to look at the stars. Most enjoyed lying in the sand dunes looking at the night sky whilst having a fun and informative talk about the galaxy.

The interaction with the team was wonderful. They took time to introduce us to what we were looking at in the sky, both with naked eyes and looking through the telescope. This was followed by further explanation in the desert. Altogether, a great experience.

Ensure the coaches are there way before being told to leave the warm restaurant. We waited in the Freezing windy dessert at the end of the experience for over 20 mins with 2 very small children for no reason other than terrible planning of the coach arrival time

A nice little restaurant just out in the desert with minimal light pollution, which helps when you want to see the night sky. The buffet food was very tasty and the drinks are reasonably priced. A short walk into the dunes of the desert and the sky was very accommodating with the guides pointing out the various stars and planets

This was a great experience, from the welcome drink to the shot of the local liquor at the end. Probably the best meal we had on our holiday, and the singer during our meal was very good. It was a lovely clear night with only the smallest crescent of moon visible so visibility of the stars, even the Milky Way was possible with the naked eye. It would have been helpful to have a reminder of the appropriate clothing and the need to bring catch for additional drinks.

Purposely booked this experience on a moonless night which enhanced the star experience. The guide was knowledgeable and highlighted some consolations. More time could have been spent on this star part of the experience laying in the dark sand dunes, and less on the pre-meal chat. Word of advice, make dure you take some money, or card, as you only get one drink. About half the group hadn't brought a means to pay. (Also got missed on the round of drinks at the end of the evening)

It was good. Guides were not ‘professionals’ but had good knowledge and great English. Food was nice. The main problem was communication! Your first drink (soft/alchohol or water) was included. Subsequent drinks weren’t. Had NO communication of this. So had no cash or cards with us. TUI need to tell ppl what is included.

Location is lovely. Food very tasty nice to have some local dishes. Entertainment (singer/guitarist) very good, perfect dinner music, engaging & entertaining but didn't overpower the atmosphere. Hosts friendly & knowledgeable; telescopes set up outside was a great idea so we could pop out between courses to a look a few people at a time, rather than queue up. Seeing the night sky without light pollution is a real treat. Great activity that supports local business and doesn't damage the island

The star gazing was good but they only showed Saturn and Jupiter. They could have shown us the stars and constellations through the telescope too. Loved this trip. Great evening , lovely traditional cape verdian food and entertainment. The short walk in to the desert was followed by an informative talk on the constellations and stars. The telescope’s were great and we were able to capture some great photos with the help of the guides. Thoroughly recommend.

The guide was very good, the explanations when looking through the telescopes were very good. It was cloudy on the night but they parted enough to see moon which I got a good photo through the telescope, Jupiter & 2 of its moons as well as Saturn and a few stars. The food was lovely and the staff were great in there. I would do this experience again for sure.

Trip needs to be shorter. Far too much time talking and clapping at the beginning. Buffet should have been served before allowed outside to look through telescopes. This was the best part seeing the moon and planets up close. Drinks at the end should have been poured ready for return from walk.

The restaurant was set out lovely and was a really romantic setting, there wasn’t much selection of food so not ideal for a picky eater. The night seemed to be very drawn out and was a lot longer of an excursion than I expected. When we finally started walking onto the sand dunes to look at the stars the night really took a turn and was a fantastic experience even on a cloudy evening. Don’t think it was worth the money though.

Our excursion date coincided with the blue moon, so we weren't able to see the Milky Way, however Misael (Mr. Smile) did an incredible job at explaining where you'd normally be able to see constellations, the southern cross, etc. We got to look through a telescope at the full moon and Saturn, and snapped some cool photos. The service was excellent and all staff were really kind. The food was delicious and there was a nice choice of drinks. Try their grogue, if you want something with a kick :)

It was cloudy. Obviously this is out of the organisers control but I felt the event should be cancelled and an alternative date offered. The guide tried his best and was very knowledgeable and funny but the whole thing felt like a waste of time. Also, AND THIS IS QUITE IMPORTANT, the booking confirmation should advise that only one drink is included and guest may wish to bring a small amount of money. We luckily had a bottle of water. But on a warm humid night I needed more refreshments.

The guides were not quite as forthcoming specialist info as I would have liked. Guide spent more talking about drinking than talking about stars. Star watching was good in the desert but although there were 2 telescopes it depended on which person you were with. The experience overall was quite wonderful. It was a little disorganised a first but once we got the feel for the evening we went with the flow. The driver didn't say anything apart from checking our tickets and making sure everyone on the bus was going to the hotel.

Friendly host; plenty of good food and local entertainment. Guides provided an entertaining and informative introduction to astrometry, the whole experience was fabulous. Laying on the desert sands watching the night sky is a experience you are not going want to miss.

Fantastic evening looking at the stars. Ricardo and his staff at the restaurant are lovely. The food is great and to top it off you have very knowledgeable guides talking you through the stars and constellations. I just keep looking up now going “oh that’s venus, ah mars, oooh orion’s belt” you get the idea lol. Deffo book you won’t regret it

We had a lovely evening in the desert the meal was very good and the live music gave the place a great atmosphere. The stargazing was magical although there was still a little light pollution from a nearby town but going out into the desert and lying down on a blanket to look at the stars was a great experience. Looking through the telescopes was interesting and the guides were very knowledgeable about the stars planets and constellations we could see.

This trip exceeded our expectations. The meal was lovely in a beautiful setting with live local musicians. The staff and guides were excellent. The knowledge of the guides and the amazing views from the telescopes was fantastic. We saw mars, the moon and Venus through the telescopes and got the most fab photos. We then lay on blankets looking up at the stars in the middle of the dessert and witnessed 2 shooting stars. Thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend, it was such a fab night.

A great little excursion. You get to see the night sky in a way we don’t in the UK. Food could have been better. Our guide was simultaneously giving the talk in English and German which made it a bit disjointed at times. I think it would be useful to have different guides for each language group. However, I’d definitely recommend this one.

Highly recommend this activity. I honestly thought we would just be gazing at the stars but it was much more. We got picked up and headed to the dessert where we have dinner prepared for us and then we looked through the telescopes and was able to see stars but also planets. We then walked a bit further into the desert where we gazed at the stars and even saw two shooting stars. All staff were very knowledgeable. Worth the money.

Really lovely evening, made even better with being able to see Saturn & Jupiter through the telescopes, amazing. Food traditional, very nice. Viewing the stars whilst lying on blankets was great but would have been good to have things pointed out at this time. The intro at the beginning of the evening was a bit odd and sometimes a bit difficult to follow as the guide was having to present in German and English at the same time.

It was cloudy, and there was a full moon, which meant that we couldn't see many of the stars. There was a break in the clouds, which meant that we had the opportunity to see Saturn and Jupiter through the telescope. We enjoyed the food, live music and lying down in the desert. The presentation on the projector was interesting, but there was quite a lot of talking, and being on the English-speaking tour it ended up being presented in 3 languages, which made it hard to follow.

Out experience on this trip was amazing, seeing the milkyway, the planets through a telescope and learning about the stars and the difference we see from the naked eye compared to what's actually out there was amazing. Food was nice , music was relaxing and our 2 guides were really enjoyable to be around. Our night started at 6.30pm with pick up from reception a half hour drive out to the desert, food in a shack then out with blankets to the darkness to see shooting stars . Amazing night

From start to finish, the tour was perfect. The TUI driver that took us to the desert was lovely and very friendly. The staff at the beach club where the excursion started were amazing. The atmosphere was superb and food was lovely. Luckily we did manage to see some starts and Saturn! It was cloudy all day and evening so we were very lucky that the clouds broke but the guides put on a lovely evening and they are very knowledgeable!

All staff and guide were very welcoming and friendly. The food service was really good ensuing we knew when it was ready and when to move onto the next course. Out outside guides around the dessert were really informative and made sure to keep us together when exploring the dessert in the dark and gave a really detailed explanation on astrology.

Lovely venue in the middle of the dessert. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and attentive and the food was fab. Downside to the trip was the stargazing part. The staff were very friendly and laid back, this part of the trip I felt lacked structure. We weren’t sure when to go outside and use the telescopes. It seemed that we could do this at our leisure. We have been on other star gazing trips with TUI (Tiede by night) which were much more structured and informative & better value

We enjoyed the food. Very welcoming host. As in the desert I understand no lightning but it can be improved just to walk there are back when walking to stargaze. Or even mark the walkway. My 66 year old auntie tripped over the dead tree twig and got all shaken up. Even two guides are there can walk at the front and at the back of the group to make sure that everyone gets back safe. This was not the case in out trip. Both guides walked at the front talking and didn’t look back.

Picked up from hotel and rep didnt speak at all would of been nice to say how long transfer was and bit of information about the night a head. You can't star gaze with full moon/ nearly full noon so be nice too just say that when you book just say moon gazing it was still good just would of booked different day if realised. Had good evening then ended with hour talk about planets while the man was enthusiastic after 20 mins everyone had, had enough and wanted to go back to stars or hotel.

Food very good, telescopes excellent, staff fab, venue pleasurable. Walking in the sand was not good given my husbands difficulties, couldn't do lying in the dunes either because of this. After lying in the dunes the planets talk was in our opinion totally unnecessary and went on far to long. We are adults aware of the universe which is why we wanted to look at stars and did not need a primary school lesson in them. We got to see the moon and nothing else.

For this experience you get to see either the moon or the stars. It should be made clear that if there is a fullish moon then you won't see many stars as the moonlight covers the sky. Also you need to be a little lucky with clouds. Note that the local guides are self taught and are quite knowledgeable. The live music at the beginning of the night is nice. Welcome drink is given and one further drink included in the experience. The food was sufficient and made a change from the buffet food back at the resort. Overall my experience was average due to the moon coverage but check if the moon is in view before booking. Seeing the stars is the main point of this experience.

More info about what you can expect not to see if there is a bright moon vs a dark sky. We went in the hope of seeing amazing stars but phase of moon (presumably 50% of month is similar or worse) blocked most of it. Band and food was amazing - astrophysics lesson was odd but quirky

Overpriced. Poor access to and from the bus - safety considerations lacking (other guests left to look after guests with poor mobility walking across rough ground and soft sand in the dark). Not a true dark sky as a fairly well-lit village a mile away has quite an influence on night visibility. Does not compare well to other dark sky experiences we have been on. Restaurant was very good (plenty to eat and it was very tasty indeed) and the facilities were very clean but confined. The night sky presenter was very knowledgeable, informative and enthusiastic - good to listen to and very engaging. Telescopes were provided and looked great but we never got to look through one… some cloud didn’t help though. Overall, an interesting evening but it felt like the brief was met and no more and lacked continuity and quite frankly, management.

Seeing the night sky like never before was incredible due to very little light pollution and the benefit of having experts to talk you through what we were seeing was fantastic. The opportunity to also view the stars through the telescopes was amazing! Defiantly recommend.

Lovely food, incredible atmosphere and a magical night. So nice being out in the desert, away from light pollution with a clear sky full of stars. Never seen a night sky like it! The guides were really knowledgeable in the constellations and pointed out lots to look out for that I'll always remember now when looking at the night sky. The idea of the experience was brilliant but it wasn’t executed very well. When we were collected from the hotel, our driver didn’t greet us or speak to anyone on the coach. We had no idea where we were going, how long it would take or an explanation of how the night would go. We were then dropped in the desert, still having not been spoken to and then led down this path by a new gentleman who again didn’t speak to us. Although there is a level of trust when you book a TUI excursion, it doesn’t mean an explanation wouldn’t hurt of who these people are and where we are going. Then we entered the restaurant and the service was outstanding. I cannot fault the service, food or atmosphere at all, really was impressed in there. We then got an explanation about the night but it was a little scattered and you could tell the gentleman from the stargazing team wasn’t quite sure when we could start that part of the night. We all sat eating and waiting for an invitation to go outside and this didn’t come, so in the end we all piled out ourselves into the organised chaos of looking through the telescopes. Because of this, there had been a lull where no-one knew what was happening and we all sat in the restaurant not with a clue what to do. The stargazing was fabulous, the team were all very intelligent and had great explanations for us about what we were looking at. It was very clear they are all very passionate about their profession and that was lovely to see. But because we had all piled outside at once there was too many of us for them to handle. What should happen is we should be invited outside 2 or 3 tables at a time to do some star gazing whilst the others are inside eating and drinking. This would make it a lot more organised outside. As the evening drew to a close, a member of the star gazing team started to do an explanation on gravity and the solar system and some other physics lessons. This was all really interesting but not at 11pm when we are all very tired by now. This should have been done after dinner when there was a lull waiting to stargaze. Doing it at the end of the night meant it ended up being lost on most people. Also, at no point was it explained how late an evening it would be. This of course isn’t a problem as we are on holiday but it would have been nice if the driver or one of the representatives at the restaurant explained in the beginning we will be back to get you at this time etc. Because the not knowing meant we spent the whole evening wondering if and when we would be collected, what time, and looking at the time wondering. Which takes the shine off the rest of the evening when you are worrying about that.
